The Lord’s Taverners South Africa will once again run its Golf Majors competition in 2021 to help raise funds for the charity.
The competition proved very popular last year, and the plan is to significantly ramp up the numbers in order to generate the cash needed to keep the South African chapter of the Taverners doing its good work.
HOW IT WORKS
Working with the four golf majors - The Masters (Augusta National - April 8-11), PGA Championship (Kiawah Island, Ocean Course - May 20-23), US Open (Torrey Pines - June 17-20) and The Open Championship (Royal St George's - July 15-18), we ask each entrant to pick 4 players per tournament. You are given points for the position in which they finish, so the player with the lowest number of points wins. Then for the next tournament, you can only carry one player through, and the three discarded players may not be used again for the remainder of the season. If any of your selections do not make the cut, you will be given a score of cut plus one. If a player is scratched after we receive your selections, you will be allocated the highest ranked player you have not selected before.
Entry for the year costs R1 000, with R800 going towards the prize-fund and R200 as a donation to Lord’s Taverners South Africa. R200 per person will be allocated to each competition’s prize-fund so, if we have 50 participants, the fund per tournament will be R10 000 with the split being: 1st R5000, 2nd R3 000 and 3rd R2 000.
Entry fees are due by the end of March and the bank account details are as follows:
