As if the star power of former England captains David Gower and Mike Gatting was not a big enough drawcard, Cape Town delivered one of her typically glorious summer days to welcome Table Cricket to the top of Table Mountain.

The Lord’s Taverners, a UK-based charity organisation, were in town to promote Table Cricket, an adapted version of the game, played on a table tennis table and specially designed to give mentally and physically disabled people the chance to play and compete in the sport.

Gatting and Gower, along with Taverners CEO Paul Robin, his South Africa counterpart David Ralph, and Taverners SA ambassador Jeremy Fredericks, demonstrated the game in the most glorious of settings.

The aim of the exercise, and their week-long tour to these shores, is to raise awareness for Table Cricket and raise funds to get the game into as many schools as possible.
