The Lord's Taverners hosted a star-studded gala dinner at Kelvin Grove on Friday evening to raise funds for its various programmes.
Host by Dan Nicholl, the attendance list included former England cricket captains Mike Gatting and David Gower, ex-England rugby stars Rob Andrew and George Chuter, South African cricketing legends such as Peter Kirsten and Vince van der Bijl, and the entire Proteas team that will participate in the Over-50s World Cup later this month.
A wonderful evening was had by all, with Gatting, Gower and Co having the crowd in stitches with stories from their playing days.
But, most importantly, lots of money was raised to be used to get Table Cricket into more schools and, in the process, put smiles on the faces of children who don't always have that much to smile about.
